Protegimus General VLOS Certificate (GVC)

Price Includes VAT (20%) (£110.00)

What is a GVC?

A General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) is the ultimate certification for professional drone usage. Possessing one gives you complete access to the UK’s drone industry, valued at approximately £42bn. The GVC unlocks numerous possibilities in terms of flight locations, thereby enabling you to operate drones exactly where your customers require. After securing your GVC, you are eligible to apply to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for Operational Authorisation. This specific permit grants you the liberty to operate drones weighing up to 25kg in populated and urban areas, and as close as 50m to individuals not involved in the drone operation, also known as “uninvolved people”.

The Course

Enrolling in our CAA approved combined course is inexpensive, fast and available to anyone. You’ll study four core modules (Flight Performance, Flight Operations (introductory and intermediate) & Meteorology), each followed by a practice question bank to embed what you’ve learned. The fourth module contains practical exercises and walk-throughs and when you’re ready to take your exam, you simply login, select a time and follow the set up instructions. Nothing could be simpler.

With your exam complete, you’re ready to start creating your operations manual via our automated system; Flight Docs. This is a web-based tool where you can craft your manual, using a simple and intuitive interface. End-to-end it’ll take a couple of hours, after which you simply submit it for review. We aim to complete the review within 48 hours.

The final part of the course is to pass your practical flight assessment. This is the only “in-person” activity and we provide you with the format and flight activities required. You just log in to the automated booking system, select a date and time that suits you and we guide you the rest of the way.

Note: CAA Approval of our accredited course is held by our partners over at Av8 Flight School.
